No. Nothing here predicts events. The I Ching gives you an image; you relate it to your situation. We think that is more useful than a prediction anyway — a prediction ends thinking, an image starts it.

You have to be sincere, not credulous. Bring a real question and pay attention to your reaction to the answer. Whether anything “knows” anything is a question you can happily leave open.

With your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, the same source used for security keys. Nobody, including us, can influence or see your cast. If you prefer, toss real coins and type in the results.

The hexagram and line texts are short original paraphrases written for this site, based on the traditional images. They are deliberately brief so you do the interpreting. For the classical text, see the translations on our resources page.

Seven virtual guides built on a language model, each with one job: sharpen your question, describe the season, cast, read the images, read the lines, reflect it back, keep the record. They never predict and never give medical, legal or financial advice. Full explanation. If the site owner has not connected a model, the Council rests and you still get the full built-in reading.

You get a few free Council readings to start. After that, a small credit pack keeps them going — each full reading uses one credit. The built-in reading (hexagram, trigrams, changing lines, where it tends) is always free and unlimited; credits only apply to the seven-guide AI Council. Free readings are used before credits, and both live in your browser.

Not by us. Your question, context and cast live in your browser only, unless you choose to post them in the circle. When the Council runs, your text is sent to the model provider to generate the reflection and is not kept by this site. See privacy.

Yes — the oracle page keeps your last readings in your browser. Clear your browser data and they are gone, so copy anything you want to keep.

The book’s own advice (hexagram 4) is: ask once, sincerely, and don’t pester. If the answer puzzles you, sit with it or ask the circle. Ask again when the situation itself has changed.

No changing lines: read the judgement whole. One: that line is the heart. Two: read both, weight the upper. Three: a real transition; first hexagram is where you are, second where it heads. Four or more: the second hexagram carries most of the meaning.
