Consult the oracle
Together we’ll open a portal to ask for guidance. Then you’ll cast, and the reading — and if you like, the Council — will help you hear what the hexagram and its changing lines are saying, in service of your own intuition.
The I Ching is a tool for reflection. It will not predict events or replace medical, legal or financial advice. What it does well is show your situation from an unexpected angle.
Short ritual: opening the portal
A ritual does not summon anything. It marks a threshold so you arrive at the question with your whole attention.
- Sit so your feet touch the floor and your spine is easy. Put down anything in your hands.
- Ring the bell, or simply notice the sound of the room. Let the sound be the threshold.
- Take three slow breaths. On each out-breath, let go of the answer you want.
- Feel yourself as a small weather system inside a larger one.
- Say, silently or aloud: “I come with a sincere question. I am willing to hear what I do not expect.”
Your question and its context
Ask about your own stance, in an open form: “How should I approach…”, “What do I need to understand about…”. Yes/no questions get thin answers.
Your words stay in your browser unless you convene the Council or post to the circle.
Casting the hexagram
Three coins, six tosses, bottom line first. Heads counts 3, tails 2: 6 old yin (changing), 7 young yang, 8 young yin, 9 old yang (changing).
Hold your question in mind. Press once for each line.
